The Lords of Scena built this castle in 1350. It has been the property of the Counts of Merano (Meran) since 1859, and these days is set up as a museum. Of particular interest is the exhibition of the uprising led by Andreas Hofer in 1809. As well as this, there is also an impressive collection of armour, war and hunting trophies, antiques and collections and exhibitions of paintings and art in beautifully furnished Renaissance and Baroque rooms. There is also a glorious view of the area around Merano, another reason to visit Scena Castle.
