The Larchgut residence in Lana di Sotto (Niederlana) is positioned in a magnificent setting and features a medieval tower adjacent to a late Gothic construction. Since 1990, the South Tyrol Museum of Fruit Growing has welcomed visitors with its thorough documentation of the historical development and current situation of the fruit industry in South Tyrol. Themes range from the reclamation of land near the Adige River, older methods of production and new varieties of fruit as well as the development of pest control and irrigation methods and of course, harvesting. Guided tours are available every Monday and Thursday (except during June and July) at 10:30am and include apple tasting. Visitors can also book group visits outside of opening hours on request.
