The blooming Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle offer exciting and informative daily tours. As you take a botanical expedition through The Sun Gardens, The Water and Terraced Gardens, Landscapes of South Tyrol and Forests of the World you’ll find out strange and intriguing facts about the fascinating world of plants. Every morning, there is a guided tour offered in German and Italian.

Group Tours
Are you are planning a coach tour, a company trip, or a club outing? A visit to the Gardens of Trauttansdorff Castle in Merano, Italy, is the perfect way to round off your trip. Our expert guides will grant your group fascinating insights. Group tours of the gardens are available for groups comprised of a minimum of ten people and are given in German, Italian, Spanish, English and French.

Personalized tours
Hire your very own Trauttmansdorff guide: he or she will take you on a custom-tailored journey of discovery through Merano’s intriguing botanical gardens. You can choose for yourself what you want are most interested in learning about. Personal tours are available in German, Italian and English, and are available for individuals, families and groups of up to 10 people.

Family Tours
Family tours are part of the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle’s offering: in accordance with our Family Power theme, parents can explore the gardens together with their children on an exciting guided tour. Children march to the bear of their own drum, experiencing nature and seeing things with different eyes. Trauttmansdorff’s guides, specially trained to give family tours, present family-friendly botanical information – packaging it in an exciting way – and really know how to make things tangible.

TIME: every Tuesday and Thursday in June (from 20th), July and August
LANGUAGE: 10.45 AM (German) 11.00 (Italian)
DURATION: 1 hour and a half with workshop
FOR WHOM?: Familys with children from 6 to 14 years

Dragonfly Tours
This tour will teach you everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the life of the largest and fastest insect in the world: the dragonfly. Did you know, for example, that the air-and-space industry uses the dragonfly’s skill at flying as a model for its technology?

Friday evening tours
Friday Evening Tours take place within the context of the Trauttmansdorff After Hours events. Visitors can enjoy the soothing evening mood and reveal new facets of the garden. Your garden guide will take you – depending on which flowers are in bloom – to intensely fragrant and luminous plants, the Forbidden Garden, exotic lotus flowers, splendid roses and lush hydrangeas, giving you plenty of information about everything you see.

School tours
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle offer garden tours every year, for students of all grade levels. These tours can be booked at any time during the season.
